A Celebration of Creative Stitching

For more than twenty-five years, the annual Delmarva Needle Art Show and Competition has remained one of the Julia A. Purnell Museum’s most popular exhibitions. Each year many visitors make a special trip to Snow Hill to view works by needle and fiber artists from the all over the region.

2022 Delmarva Needle Art Show Announcement

Fiber art of all types is being sought for this year’s show. This includes quilting, embroidery, counted cross-stitch, crochet, doll making, lace, appliqué, weaving, textile collage, basketry, and fashion design. Submissions will be accepted through September 10, and the exhibit will be on display through October 7th, when the museum hosts its annual FiberFest traditional arts festival.

During the festival, ribbons will be awarded in adult and child categories along with a people’s choice award. A relatively new category, Heirloom Pride, will allow entrants to show off antique or vintage items from their personal or family collections, allowing a special opportunity for guests to view some of the community’s heritage needle art.

Anyone willing to participate needs to fill out an entry form and bring or send it to the museum. You can also pick up a copy at the front desk, when submitting your work for the competition.
