Julia A. Purnell Museum is a small non-profit organization, showcasing region’s rich history for over 75 years. Our purpose is to collect, preserve and display items that convey cultural and artistic significance important for education of general public. Primarily, we strive to expand younger generation’s knowledge of local history by offering treasure hunt at the museum and hosting free educational craft sessions every Wednesday in July. In October of each year, we hold FiberFest, a textile festival, celebrating fiber arts of all kinds, featuring food vendors, superior quality handcrafted items, Delmarva Needle Art Show participant’s artwork, children’s activities and animals. The event offers many opportunities to learn about the traditional manner in which textiles were produced before the advent of mechanized production.
